Christmas Arrives in a Box

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate the day!  "And on earth, peace, goodwill to all."

A box arrived in the mail last week.  My eldest sister decided that since I was too lazy to drag a tree out this year, she'd make sure that one appeared at our house anyway.  Inside the package was an Alberta Spruce in a gallon container, a decorative cache pot in which to place it, lights and decorations.

There's something about oldest siblings...

Well, I guess we'll have a tree this year after all.  It would be a shame and rather rude to ignore the poor thing.

I added some dried hydrangeas to the bottom to hide the pot and threw on some extra fused glass snowflakes just for fun.
Okay, one last Finnish Christmas song.  (Youtube takes one to the most interesting places.)

Snow on the fields, silent streets
the misery of autumn is left behind.
The flow of memories, the fairy tales of childhood
The message of Christmas is a new opportunity.

It's Christmas again, rejoice!
A child has been born to us tonight.
Let all the people on earth have hope,
Let all the prisoners [be set] free,
Let the seed of faith rise
Let there be never ending peace.

I'd like to go with the shepherds
To forget the hurry and tiresome rackett.
When the morning came, did anyone know
that first Christmas
could change history?

It's Christmas again, rejoice!
A child has been born to us tonight
Let all the people have hope,
Let all the prisoners free.
Let there be love inside the people
That's when we have Christmas.

If you want to find eternal Christmas
open your heart and meet the Saviour
You will not find gold or a celebration
You'll only find a crib and a simple stable.

It's Christmas again, rejoice!
A child has been born to us tonight
Let all the people on earth have hope,
Let all the prisoners free
Let the seed of faith rise
Let there be never ending peace.

It's Christmas again, let the bells ring
Somewhere a Mother is swadling her child...
